Natural Disasters are random events in Plague Inc.. Once a natural disaster occurs, the player will be notified via RMS/WHO reports. A natural disaster kills people in the affected country, with deaths ranging from less than one hundred people to several thousand. Keep in mind that the player's plague is not the cause of those deaths, and as such, his/her plague will not be spotted. A Natural Disaster can kill off infected people in a country, and if the infected count is still low, this can reset all of one's progress in that country. It can also cause the destruction of research facilities and labs, and will slow cure research in said country.
